Fellow Nigerians,
The International Workers’ Day or May Day honours all skilled and unskilled members of the workforce globally, and Nigeria, a country teeming with one of the world’s most vibrant workforces, is a key part of this commemoration.
Nigeria is one of the largest economies in Africa, and the drive of the populace to keep achieving more is highly commendable.
I am glad that despite the economic downturns in recent times and plethora of challenges, Nigerians are still trudging on in various professions.
The importance of May Day to the organised labour and the working-class goes beyond the first day of May; it symbolises the determination of Nigerians to aspire for better standards of living, and I laud you all for your resilience.
Nigeria has achieved a lot in terms of the positive transformation of sectors such as finanacial technology, telecommunications, banking and finance, oil and gas, transportation, education and agricultural development. However, more can still be accomplished with the collaborative efforts of all workers, to take the country to greater heights.
It is my humble wish that leaders and all citizens unite in the singular interest of our dear country, to work positively towards a better future.
With a united labour force, Nigeria can achieve what almost no other country has achieved or is in a position to achieve, and that is pulling our great country up from the ashes underdevelopment to a fully developed, robust economy.
On this Labour Day, I wish all workers to be recognised and appreciated for their hard work and contributions to the development of society. I urge all leaders to honour and celebrate the hard work and dedication of working individuals in every field. The country will not be able to shine without workers.
To all the hardworking men and women, I appreciate you.
Happy Workers’ Day!
