The scholarship is designed to help 40 Nigerian students affected by the ASUU strike to advance their skills in Business Analytics, Product Management, 360 Degrees Marketing and Digital Transformation.

According to a statement released at the weekend, the Washington DC-based university announced its partnership with Piggyvest, an Africa-based financial technology company with over three million customers, as another step in its commitment to affordable and uninterrupted education.

The statement also noted that Piggyvest would bear 100 per cent of the tuition fees for select programmes to be taken by the beneficiaries.

The Chief Operating Officer/Co-founder of Piggyvest, Odunayo Eweniyi, said the company was committed to promoting educational opportunities for young Nigerians affected by the ASUU strike.

Her words, “As a company founded by young Nigerians, who had the fortune to meet in university, we are more than committed to playing a part, however small, in making sure that undergraduates affected by the ongoing strike have an avenue to continue learning.

“We are partnering Nexford University on this initiative because we sincerely believe that continuous learning is essential to development. We hope that access to these courses, which build some of the most in-demand skills today, is a start.”

Affirming the institution’s global legacy, the Director of Career Innovation for Nexford, Dr Jennifer Bangoura, noted that the institution’s partnership with Piggyvest would enable students affected by the ASUU strike to access uninterrupted learning experience from an international organisation to build essential skills and remain relevant in the job market.

“Nexford is committed to solving the world’s biggest employer challenges – skills – and bridging talent gaps in various sectors globally.

“Through strategic partnership with key players in different sectors, the university continues to expand its reach globally, and strengthen its commitment to enable social and economic mobility through high quality, yet affordable, American education, 100 per cent online,” she said.

Like minded institutions looking to become part of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to ensure continuous learning for all students affected by the ASUU strike, are encouraged to email partner@nexford.org to find out how they can become a part of this exciting initiative.
